Samuel Clearwater è tornato. Nemmeno la morte è riuscita a portarlo con sé.

Rapito e torturato per anni interi dal padre di Bear, Chop, torna fisicamente ma mentalmente fluttua tra il presente e quel passato che vorrebbe tanto dimenticare, ma che è inciso sulla sua pelle.

Ora si trova con i suoi amici e loro sanno che il vecchio Preppy non sta bene. Il percorso per guarire è lungo, ma aiutare qualcuno che non vuole essere avvicinato non è affatto semplice. Ci vuole tanta pazienza. E forse anche un pizzico di sana prepotenza.

“-What we do when we want something?

-We take it.

-Now tell me what happens when someone stands in the way of us taking what’s ours?

-We fucking kill ‘em.”

Il destino manipolatore fa tornare Dre a casa. E il tempismo ancora più subdolo li fa incontrare.

Una ferita che ha sanguinato troppo a lungo, e che stava finalmente guarendo, si riapre istantaneamente.

Preppy non è morto. E Dre non si aspettava di trovarselo davanti.

Cosa si fa quando l’amore della propria vita torna dall’inferno minacciando di non lasciarti più?

Il secondo volume è un libro di transizione. Meno forte degli altri, ma utile per trovare risposte a quelle domande che mi sono posta.

Sorvolo sull’enorme cliffhanger finale, ma solo perché posso leggere subito il seguito!
